Romesh has graduated from Maths teacher to mainstream success as a comedian whose askance view on ife spares no-one, least of all himself. He is one half of the popular show Rob & Romesh Vs, co-starring his comedy peer Rob Beckett. He has written for Mock The Week and starred on Russell Howard’s Good News. Romesh sees himself as a ‘tubby vegan sociopath.’

Biography

Multi award-winning comedian Romesh Ranganathan used to indulge in some freestyle rap during his day job as a maths teacher. Now he’s an acclaimed standup and has fronted series including The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan, The Ranganation, Rob & Romesh Vs, A League Of Their Own, and The Weakest Link.

His love of rap lives on with his BBC Sounds and Radio 2 show For The Love of Hip Hop and his podcast Hip Hop Saved My Life. He also co-hosts the podcast Wolf & Owl with fellow comedian Tom Davis.

Describing himself as a ‘tubby, vegan sociopath’, The Guardian calls Romesh ‘an equal opportunities misanthrope.’ He looks at the world with weary bemusement and a cynical detachment. His deadpan style was perfectly demonstrated in his BBC travel documentary-cum-journey of discovery Asian Provocateur, in which he reluctantly uncovered his Sri Lankan roots at the behest of his mother.

He’s also done a spot of acting in the sitcoms The Reluctant Landlord, King Gary and Avoidance, and he appeared in the live action musical Cinderella.

His autobiography Straight Outta Crawley: The Memoirs Of A Distinctly Average Human Being, was a Sunday Times Bestseller. His second book As Good as It Gets: Life Lessons from a Reluctant Adult was a hilarious and painfully accurate dissection of what it really means to grow up.

Agent Recommendation

Romesh's onstage disdain for everyone and everything is utterly infectious. It's rare for someone playing the misanthrope to have so much charm, but he pulls off the perfect balance. His routine meanders over well-trodden paths, but every punch line feels fresh. Watch the audience roar their approval.
