Steve served as HQ psychologist to Team GB at three Olympic Games. He also worked with the England Cricket Team for 16 years - during which time they regained the Ashes from Australia after 18 years and went on to reach No.1 in the world rankings for the first time ever. Steve considers resilience to be a crucial factor in organisational performance and outlines a range of techniques for creating the right mindset for thriving under pressure.


Biography

During his forty-year career author and high-performance psychologist Dr Steve Bull has coached CEOs, Olympic athletes, NATO officers, actors, and university professors. He attended three Olympic Games as the Great Britain Team Headquarters Psychologist and has worked with hundreds of athletes in professional sports helping individuals and teams optimise their performance potential.

After working with the World Cup winning England Women’s Cricket Team for ten years Steve worked with the England Men’s Team for sixteen years during which time they regained the Ashes from Australia before going on to reach number one in the world rankings for the first time ever in the modern era.

Having gained a PhD early in his career, Steve was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in recognition of his “outstanding contribution to international performance psychology”. In the second half of his career, he has specialised as an executive coach and business consultant delivering development programmes in high performance leadership, team effectiveness, change management, organisational culture, and resilience. Steve has worked with a wide range of organisations throughout Europe, the USA, the Middle East, and Asia, including twenty-one of the current FTSE 100 listed companies.

Throughout his career Steve has published articles widely in scientific and professional outlets. He is the author several books including The Game Plan: Your Guide to Mental Toughness at Work, which presents a practical guide to developing resilience in the workplace based on the model Steve developed from his scientific research and professional practice. The foreword for the book is by former England Cricket Captain Michael Vaughan, OBE, who says “Steve Bull’s ideas and techniques will equip anyone in business with a game plan for acquiring the winning edge.”

Steve’s leadership experience includes serving terms as Chair of five national executive committees, including the British Olympic Association Psychology Steering Group, and the England and Wales Cricket Board Science and Medicine Advisory Group for which he was the inaugural Chair.

Looking Ahead to International Women’s Day

We were joined by four fantastic speakers to look ahead at International Women’s Day. With the theme of this year’s event being #InspireInclusion, we were lucky enough to hear from four women who have each blazed a trail in their respective fields: CEO of Channel 4, Alex Mahon; the former Australian Prime Minister and Chair of Kings’ Global Institute of Women’s Leadership, Julia Gillard; one of the leading voices in football, Eniola Aluko MBE; and broadcaster and journalist, Samira Ahmed.
