BIOGRAPHY
Piers Morgan was Editor of the Daily Mirror until his dismissal following a decision to publish photos of British soldiers apparently abusing Iraqi prisoners of war. He is now better known as a judge on Britain's Got Talent, after proving a big hit on the US version.
Piers' first Fleet Street job was on the Sun's showbiz column. He went on to run the News of the World, becoming the youngest Editor of a national title for half a century. He then took the helm at the Mirror for nine years, most of them dogged by controversy.
After his removal, Piers turned to television. He co-hosted Morgan and Platell, interrogating politicians and newsmakers, and then presented You Can't Fire Me, I'm Famous - a series of interviews with other public figures who had fallen or been pushed off their pedestals.
Piers is author of several books, notably The Insider: The private diaries of a scandalous decade, and Don't You Know Who I Am? He has also teamed up with Matthew Freud to buy the Press Gazette and launch First News, the first real newspaper for children.
