Ellen Macarthur
The Vendée Globe is the toughest challenge the world's oceans have to offer: 100 days alone at sea, circumnavigating the globe. Ellen MacArthur captured the public’s attention as she battled against the elements and equipment failures during her gruelling 94 day voyage. In December 2004, Ellen began her latest project - an attempt to set a new solo, non-stop round the world record. The journey had been completed only once in a multihull, in 73 days. She completed the course with more than a day to spare.
